About this site

Historical Christchurch grew out of the Ōtautahi Christchurch subject guide, created by staff of the Macmillan Brown Library to support students studying the Sociology of the City courses offered by the University of Canterbury .

With a move to increased online learning, the Macmillan Brown Library has digitised a number of historical resources in its heritage collection.  These works are now available online to anyone interested in the printed history of Ōtautahi Christchurch.

We will be adding more books to this site as digitisation progresses.
